Noteworthy AppearancesThe Doug Moreland Show made its debut in March 2005 as the sole opening act for Willie Nelson at the Rosa Hart Theater in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The band made its first international appearance in Bocas del Toro, Panama in 2005, and returned there in 2006. They performed at the MusicFest in Steamboat, Colorado in 2005, 2006, and 2007, which was broadcast live across the nation on XM Radio. (Doug made his 7th appearance at this festival.) In 2006, the band achieved 150 performances, including openings for other bands such as Asleep At The Wheel, Two Tons of Steel, Junior Brown, and Billy Joe Shaver. Upcoming dates include 3 European festivals in August. Musical MeritThe Doug Moreland Show won Entertainer of the Year at the Texas Music Awards in April 2007! Dallas and Home To Me, the latest radio releases from Doug's newest album Doug Moreland, have received fine support from numerous radio stations in Texas and adjacent states. XM Radio's Cross-Country station charted Doug Moreland's Everybody Knows My Name album in the top 5 for over 9 weeks! The album peaked at #2 on this nationally broadcast station. In their 2004 countdown, the album was #40 for the year! (flanked by the Red River Tribute, which he contributed the first cut to, and Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys as #39 and #41.) Doug's first musical release in 2004 off of Everybody Knows My Name, "Never Be Homeless" made a mark on the weekly Texas Music Chart in its top 50 spins. "Baja Holiday" lasted for 4 weeks in 2005 in the top 50 and peaked at #29. Doug has written and/or recorded a handful of jingles for businesses, including a radio "country version" for Mr. Gatti's Pizza in Austin. "I Wanna Drive A Truck" off of Everybody Knows My Name has recently been used for a regional Chevrolet dealership television ad campaign. |
